“BOYCOTT” 2022 BEIJING WINTER OLYMPICS

There are countless reasons why we as Americans should boycott the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and each reason begins and ends with the violation of human rights by the Chinese Government.

China uses coercion and aggression to systematically erode autonomy in Hong Kong, undercut democracy in Taiwan, abuse human rights in “Xin Jiang and Tibet.

The Chinese Communist Party wants to permanently detain most of the Uighur Muslim population in the Xin Jiang Region.  The Uyghur Human Rights Project shared with the British Broad Casting (BBC) that more than 300 clerics were sent into detention camps, while others were sent to the “re-education” camps in Xin Jiang.  Satellite images show Beijing has secretly built over 260 high-security concentration camps to hold the Uighur Muslim Population.  Of nearly 10 million Uighur Muslims in the region, nearly two million are in various forms of imprisonment, mostly held in a vast network of internment camps where Muslims are forced to undergo cultural transformation.  Muslim children are taken from their parents and sent to state-run institutions which are disguised as kindergartens, but double as live-in re-education facilities.  Within these re-education facilities the children are indoctrinated with Communist Party propaganda and taught all-out loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party. A 2018 U.S. State Department Human Rights report detailed instances of torture, sexual abuse, repressive surveillance measures, forcible eating of pork and drinking of alcohol (both of which are forbidden for observant Muslins), confiscation of Qurans, and even deaths.

“We will keep standing up and speaking out until China’s government stops its crimes against humanity and the genocide of Uighur and other minorities in Xin Jiang,” US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said to the UN.  The United Nations, some Western Countries, Academics, and Human Rights Groups say hundreds of thousands of Uighurs have been sent to re-education camps in the far western region.  China has acknowledged the camps’ existence, but state they are vocational skills training centers to tackle hardline groups. US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said, “In Xin Jiang, people are being tortured and women are being forcibly sterilized and brainwashing sessions continue.”  Detention camps are also co-located with factory complexes which suggest the nature of the facility and the direct connection of slave labor in Xin Jiang.

German Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, appealed to China to respect the universal declaration of human rights and asked China to tear down the detention camps.  German Ambassador Christoph Heusgen added, “If you have nothing to hide, why don’t you finally grant unimpeded access to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights?”

A Diplomatic Boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is not enough. All American Citizens Should Boycott the Beijing Olympics.  We as citizens should boycott all products sold by Sponsors of the Olympics.  We as citizens should let our government and foreign governments know we will not stand for the violation of human rights in any country, under any government region, against any people or religious group.

To all American athletes, and athletes from all foreign countries there is no honor in participating in a sporting event in Beijing.  Take note in Xin Jiang entire family units of men, women and children are being separated, imprisoned in concentration camps, tortured, raped, serialized, forced into slave labor, and brainwashed.
